Members of African Diaspora Ancestral Commemoration Institute,(ADACI) Nigeria chapter on Saturday 8, journey to Ikorodu area of Lagos State to mark the year 2024 Ancestral Commemoration Day. The group provided unforgettable moments for her members and intended members by touring Oshodi Art Gallery showcasing some of the most beautiful and indigenous made artifacts. African artifacts have been used as a means of documenting both social and spiritual practices of Africans for several centuries.
The Oshodi art Gallery, which is powerfully seated on a great edifice and situated along Lucky Fibre (Ikorodu-Itoikin Road) Lagos,. One of the popular wings of Ikorodu, opens for every lover of arts to visit. Entry requires an affordable fee which can be booked online or in person. The payment will give you access to the art collection, the Sculpture Gardens and most exhibitions with commitment to making collections, exhibitions, buildings and events accessible to all visitors.
The president, Chief Fakunle Oyesanya observed the commemoration process with the Nigeria group members at the gallery via a video call while being led by an expert guide creating an opportunity for the group to enjoy the collection with their amiable president. There are many homemade artifacts including recycled earthen pots. The group then gathered to observe the commemoration service which was done within the gallery premises where libation was poured by the Lagos chapter coordinator Laide Gold in honor of Almighty Olódùmarè and our Ancestors. The chairman of the planning committee, Egbetunde Oyetunde moderated the event to establish the reason for the commemoration for the intending members.
The commemoration is all about remembering the blacks who lost their lives in the Mediterranean sea during slave trade and also to celebrate the survivors. As a community-based spiritual organization, ADACI creates innovative programs using the arts and education as powerful tools for transformation and spiritual development.
