In the early hours of Tuesday 20th of September, 2022, an anonymous source furnished the correspondence of Itele Awori Information Board the copy of a Contempt of Court filed by Falana & Falana Chambers at the High Court of Ota, Ado Odo/Ota Local Government, Ogun State, over allege fraudulent sale of Onitele of Itele Awori traditional stool for the sum of N100,000,000.
Hon. Afolabi Moruf Afuape, the Former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and APC Candidate for House of Representatives, Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, was alleged to have sold the traditional stool in connivance with the Olota of Ota, Oba Kabiru Obalanlege, Ado Odo Ota Local Government officials and some members of the judgment debtors despite the judgement of the Supreme Court in SC:200/2003 - CHIEF GAFARU AROWOLOVS CHIEF SUNDAY EDUN OLOWOOKERE & 2 ORS, to Musiliu Ademola Eletu Asorota who has now been forcefully installed as an Oba of Itele.
Sometimes in June, 2020, Ogun state Government commenced the plan to install a candidate to fill the vacant stool of Onitele of Itele, at that point in time, the family got invitation from Mr Solomon Dada, the Director General of Service and Administration, Ado Odo Ota Local Government, to come for the letter that has been addressed to the family in order to commence the process of filling the stool with a candidate from the family in line with the verdict of the Supreme Court. On getting to the Local Government, the said Mr Solomon Dada requested that the family pay the sum of five (5) million naira before the letter could be released to them.
Unfortunately, the family was unable to provide the said amount of money requested within the short period of 24 hours. To our surprise, Mr Solomon Dada in connivance with Hon. Afolabi Afuape, the then Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs conspired to sell the stool for the Sum of a hundred (100) million naira to Ademola Eletu Asorota who is not a member of the family.
In line with the fraudulent conspiracy from the duo of Hon. Afolabi Afuape and Mr Solomon Dada, they resulted to falsifying all the documents of the Adogun Atele family at their disposal to divert the process to commence the plan of electing and parading Ademola Eletu Asorota as a member of Adogun Atele family, whereas this same Ademola himself has deposed to an affidavit in HCT/503/2022 Pa Nurudeen Akanbi Alimi Akapo Vs Mr Ademola Eletu Asorota that he is not a member of Adogun Atele family that has been pronounced as the only family eligible to fill the vacant stool as Onitele of Itele.
The family wrote to the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs several letters informing them that Olota of Ota, Oba Adeyemi Abdulkabir Obalanlege approached the family through emissaries offering them money to allow his personal friend Ademola Asorota to ascend to the stool of Onitele of Itele of which was rejected, but unknown to them, it was a joint conspiracy to sell the stool. But to our surprise, the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs under the supervision of Hon. Moruf Afolabi Afuape released our family letter through Mr Solomon Dada and Mr Opaleye Lukman upon the payment of the sum of 100 Million Naira as bribe to organize a silent election and elect the said Ademola Asorota as Onitele of Itele despite not being a member of the family.
On the 24th of June, 2020, Mr Lukman Opaleye, a civil servant of Ado Odo/Ota Local Government; Mr Solomon Dada, also a civil servant of the Local Government; Alhaji Wasiu Lawal, the Transition Committee Chairman of the Local Government on the directive of Hon. Afolabi Afuape conducted a kangaroo election and staged attendees to impersonate as members of our family.
